Remote Software Engineer in Orlando. How I Work With Teams Outside Florida
What it looks like to hire a remote senior software engineer based in the Orlando and Kissimmee area. Time zones, communication, and how work actually ships.
I live in Kissimmee, right outside Orlando. Most of the teams I work with aren't here.
That's normal now. But if you're hiring a remote engineer, you probably want to know how it actually works day to day. Here's mine.
Eastern Time, full overlap
I'm on Eastern Time. If your team is in New York, we share the whole day. If you're in Chicago or Denver, we share most of it. West coast teams get the afternoon and I can stretch for launches.
Standups, reviews, and launch windows are not a problem.
Short updates, often
I write updates like I'd text a coworker. What shipped. What's blocked. What I need from you.
No long reports. If something is serious, I'd rather call.
I own the whole path
Most of my work is end to end. At Forza I owned the platform from January 2025 to May 2026. Astro and React on the front, Node and Express on the API, Postgres for data, deployed on Vercel and Heroku. Lead pipeline synced to Salesforce. Internal tools with Microsoft Azure SSO and role based access.
That matters for remote work. You don't need three people to get one feature out. You need one person who can see the whole thing and say what it'll take.
Tools I use every day
- GitHub for everything. Pull requests, reviews, deploys.
- Vercel and Heroku for hosting.
- Cursor, Codex, Claude, GPT, and Gemini to move faster. I still review and own everything that goes out.
- Slack, Teams, or whatever your team already uses. I'll adapt.
When being in Florida helps
Some Florida companies want an engineer who's in-state. For contracts, for compliance, or because they want to meet in person once a quarter. I can drive to Orlando, Lake Nona, Tampa, or anywhere in Central Florida for a planning day.
If your team is somewhere else, I'm fine flying in when it actually helps the work.
What I'm looking for
Senior full-stack roles, remote in the US. Product teams that care about how things feel for the people using them. Problems that are a little messy and need someone to turn them into something you can ship.
If that sounds like your team, email me. My résumé is one click away, and you can walk through my work in the office.
